After a windshield replacement, one of the first things customers ask is:

“When can I take this blue tape off?”

The answer is simple...

Not just yet.

That Little Strip of Tape Has an Important Job

The blue retention tape helps hold the windshield securely in position while the automotive adhesive continues to cure.

Even though your new windshield is installed, the adhesive is still gaining strength during the curing process.

Leaving the tape in place helps avoid unnecessary movement while everything settles properly.

Please Leave the Tape On for 24 Hours

We recommend leaving the blue tape in place for at least 24 hours unless one of our technicians gives you different instructions.

It may not be the most attractive accessory on your vehicle...

But it's helping protect the quality of your installation.

The Car Wash Can Wait Too

We know it's tempting.

You just got a brand-new windshield and want your vehicle looking its best.

But we recommend waiting at least 48 hours before going through an automatic car wash.

High-pressure water can place unnecessary stress on the new windshield and adhesive before everything has fully cured.

Giving it a little extra time helps ensure the strongest possible bond.

A Little Patience Goes a Long Way

Replacing a windshield isn't just about installing new glass.

It's about giving every component the time it needs to perform properly.

Our technicians never rush the process because your safety is more important than saving a few minutes.

That blue tape? It's one of the easiest ways you can help us make sure your new windshield is ready for many miles ahead.
